I have a separate blog and I use the app "Simplaris Blogcast" to let my friends know I've updated it. Here's the link:http://www.facebook.com/editapps.php#/ap…
It will make a story on your Wall with your blog's entry title. It'll say "<your name> recently published <blog title>." It hyperlinks the title so your friends can click on it and go straight to your blog.
I haven't updated my blog in a while (so I haven't used the app as much), but from what I remember there are settings to where the app can automatically check your blog hourly so the story will automatically show on your Wall, or you can manually set it so that a story will print when you tell the app to share it on your Wall. Hope this helps!

I might depend on what blogging software you use. I blog on http://www.freedomspress.com/ and theres a neat feature that I use which allows me to click a button when viewing my blog post so that it automatically puts that blog post on your facebook wall saying you have written a new article. Also other users can do the same thing with your posts on their wall as well.
